About me
Davin Malasarn is a Thai-American writer born, raised, and living in Los Angeles, California. As an undergraduate and graduate student, he studied biochemistry and biology, sneaking in fiction classes when he could. While conducting postdoctoral research in Paris, he realized he wanted to take his writing more seriously. He left the world of scientific research and went into university communications. He also went back to school to earn his MFA from Bennington College and completed the Book Development Program through Queens College of Charlotte. He has been a PEN America Emerging Voices Fellow, a Plympton Writing Downtown Fellow, and a Bennington Alumni Fellow. His debut novel, The Outer Country, will be published in 2026 through One World/Random House.
In 2020, Davin co-founded The Granum Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to supporting writers who are ready to finish and launch major literary projects. He also (occasionally) interviews writers as part of The Artist’s Statement podcast.
